Tonight was the first game of Sophia's spring soccer season.  The weather was a bit chilly, but it was sunny and there was very little wind.  The crowd was big and enthusiastic.  Sophia had her own little cheering section.  She played hard, and despite a short break to nurse a hurt nose from taking a ball to the face, was in for the majority of the game.  Both teams were stuck around the ball, but there were a few moments when someone would break away from the clump and make it near the goal.  Sophia had one of those moments.  She drove the ball from mid-field and scored a beautiful goal.  The ball seemed to soar into the corner of the goal, just like her special goal-coaches, Lisa & Marcos, taught her.  I was so proud and overcome with emotion!  I cheered and shouted and yelled, and I think I may have even pumped my fist into the air.  The team played well together and I think it's going to be an enjoyable season!
